Zimbabwe's chief justice Luke Malaba was reportedly "heckled and booed" by opposition party lawmakers as he entered the national assembly this week to swear-in parliamentary speaker Jacob Mudenda and other presiding officers.

According to Daily News, Malaba was forced to swear-in Mudenda at least 20 minutes after entering parliament although the heckling had not subsided.  

The Movement for Democratic Change lawmakers called the chief justice a "thief" after ruling against their party in the just ended election court challenge.

'We shouted for help but no-one came to our rescue,' says aunt of kidnapped albino boy

Police in Mozambique have reportedly said that two albino children have been kidnapped in two separate incidents in the southern African country.

According to BBC, the kidnapping of the children aged 4 and 11 took place at night while they were sleeping.

Police said investigations were under way. 

An aunt of one of the boys said the kidnappers took her nephew while he sleeping with his grandmother and their calls for help were not answered.

WATCH: African leaders to attend Kofi Annan's funeral in Ghana

Former UN secretary general Kofi Annan is set to be buried in the Ghanaian capital, Accra on Thursday.

According to BBC, "presidents from across Africa, including the Ivory Coast, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe will attend the funeral service; as well as former heads of state from Germany, Finland and Switzerland".

The report said that the ceremony would be followed by a private burial, with full military honours and a 17-gun salute.

Zim ex-VP Mujuru's party 'crumbling' after dismal poll performance - report

Zimbabwean former deputy president Joice Mujuru's National People's Party (NPP) is reportedly on the verge of collapse as a number of senior party leaders have resigned after the party failed to impress in the just ended polls.

According to New Zimbabwe.com, NPP's vice president Samuel Sipepa Nkomo, national chairperson Dzikamai Mavhaire and the party’s spokesperson Jeffreyson Chitando were among those who had left the party.

In their resignation letters, the former NPP senior leaders said they were unable to continue working with Mujuru.

At least 20 dead as hill collapses on Darfur village in Sudan: rebels

At least 20 people have been killed in Sudan's war-torn Darfur region after a hill collapsed onto their village following heavy rain, a rebel group said Wednesday.

Several people are still feared to be buried after rocks crashed down onto their houses in the mountainous Jebel Marra region of Darfur on September 7, the group said.

The remote area is under the control of the rebel Sudan Liberation Army-Abdul Wahid (SLA-AW) group, and getting independent information is difficult.

Zimbabwe cholera deaths at 24, drugs resistant: WHO

The death toll from a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe has risen to 24 with first-line antibiotics struggling to treat the disease which has spread from the capital, a World Health Organisation report said on Thursday.

"A cumulative of 24 deaths were reported from the onset of outbreak," the report said, with 23 deaths in Harare and one death in the southeast district of Masvingo.

"There is resistance to the first-line medicine," it added, with tests suggesting antibiotic drugs ciprofloxacin and ceftriaxone could be ineffective and the alternative drug azithromycin was not available.

WATCH: Final farewell to UN's Kofi Annan at Ghana state funeral

World leaders past and present, traditional rulers and global royalty on Thursday joined the family of Kofi Annan, as the former UN secretary general's state funeral took place in his native Ghana.

Hundreds of dignitaries, most of them dressed in black mourning clothes, gathered at the Accra International Conference Centre, to mark the end of three days of national mourning for the respected diplomat.

Annan's casket was centre stage at the religious service and surrounded by flowers and candles.
