Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has promptly brought its emergency medical response teams into action, in response to the current displacement wave from Eastern Ghouta to northern Syria. So far, various medical and psychological services were provided for 6,320 internally displaced people (IDPs).

QRCS said in a statement on Wednesday that within the framework of the ambulance services provided by QRCS's Aleppo Relief Campaign, QRCS coordinated with local health authorities to deploy four ambulance vehicles with medical equipment and personnel to evacuate critical cases from the IDP access point and shelter camps to hospitals. The statement indicated that a total of 74 injuries were served last week.

The statement further added that the mobile clinics with physicians, midwives, and nurses are operated in Idlib and Aleppo to offer women and child care, which provided basic medical services to more than 400 beneficiaries, in the areas of mother and child health, reproductive health and primary health care, according to the protocols of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The statement pointed out that QRCS provided surgeries for the injured, chronic and communicable disease treatment, and free-of-charge medications as well as individual and group health counseling and organized lectures for health awareness and psychosocial support for more than 1,400 displaced persons.
