COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Thursday night dozens of people were forced to evacuate their hotel room after a car caught fire in the parking garage at the Spring Hill Suites. They were left out in the cold until Becky Krug, the manager at The Block Bar and Grill welcomed them inside.

This all happened around 12:30 in the morning, hotel guests lined the sidewalks at Tejon and Costilla as crews were rushing in and out of the parking garage trying to put out the fire on the second floor.

“I wouldn’t wanna be cold,” Krug said. “They just got woken up and probably kind of cranky it’s not the easiest thing with the sirens and it’s scary for them so kids were the main motivating factor.”

Krug says she offered everyone who was outside a place to get away from the cold, setting up the back room for the children, and playing cartoons and music for the kids while the adults waited the situation out in the front of the bar.

She says in a night full of chaos it felt right to offer the guests some peace.

“We were like there’s a lot of kids out there and I said bring them in we are not going to let the kids freeze,” Krug said. “It was a nice feeling to have everyone come together a nice way to end the night.”

Krug says she had to stay late Thursday but it was worth it tp get those impacted by the fire out of the cold and off the streets.
